About Us (Steve & Sue Renno)
From childhood my family always had dogs and Steve and I have also owned a few dogs in our 38 years together (GSD's being our main breed before owning Great Danes). Between our pets and raising our six children most of who have families of their own we were used to having a full house! I particularly wanted the same life for our children that I had been fortunate to have had as a child, one that included dogs (Border Collies back then) and horses as I had spent a lot of my childhood on my Grandparents farm on the Isle of Wight during school holidays. Wanting this same lifestyle for our family was a major factor in the decision in relocating from Middlesex to purchase a smallholding in the Pembrokeshire countryside in 1988.
In our professional lives I was a Care Service Co-ordinator leading a team of Carer Support Workers working within the community, employed by a Nationwide Charity for nearly 14 years offering specialist support to families caring for relatives suffering from mental health issues including Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease and Dementia. Steve's profession being a qualified Heating Engineer.
I decided in 2004 that I wanted to do more with dogs in general, so over the period of one year I was fortunate to be able to take off from my work one week a month to do a 3 months professional dog grooming course at the very busy and top training grooming salon in Cheltenham (London Academy of Grooming) being trained by the renowned Dog Grooming Guru Gill East who has been seen on Channel 5 TV 'The Boss is Coming to Dinner' The Syllabus also covered First Aid, Reiki techniques and General Care of dogs.
I am also a trained Mirochip Implanter so I personally micro-chip our own 'Sereno Spirit' puppies before registering them onto the Petlog database managed by the UK Kennel Club.
In wanting to expand my own knowledge base I undertook training in animal ultrasound scanning. Using the one of the latest state of the art Digital Ultrasound Scanner with touch screen I am able to scan, detect and monitor pregnancy and potential health problems with our own dogs.

Steve at home with one of our 'Sereno' Great Dane puppies in 2004
In November 2007 we purchased a small rural Casa surrounded by an acre of fenced land which we found in the countryside of Ontinyent in the Valencia region of Spain. We travelled back and forth from our home in Pembrokeshire with our five Great Danes - three fawns - Cleo, Monty and Troy and two Harlequins - Xena and Lancer. In October 2008 Monty, our own home bred Great Dane 'Sereno Montana Mayhem' was awarded Reserve Best in Show when we entered our first show in Spain. Unfortunately two months later we had devastating news when he was diagnosed with DCM at Murcia Veterinary Hospital. Since 2014 we have no Danes in our lives as we lost Lancer & Cleo (Monty's mother) during 2009 & 2010, Xena at the end of 2011. Finally we sadly lost Monty's son Troy middle of 2013.
We have been hobby breeders for many years but acquired our Kennel Club affix Sereno in 2000 when we were showing our Great Danes in the UK. We bred three litters of Great Danes in total over a 13 year period.
2008 - White Swiss Shepherd - a new breed for us!
In 2008 we attended some dog shows in the Valencia region and had the opportunity to see some White Swiss Shepherds (long and short coats) being shown in the ring at Championship level. The White Swiss Shepherd Dog is a breed that have been built on American and Canadian White Shepherd foundation stock and had become recognised provisionally by the FCI in November 2002 as a separate breed with the name... Berger Blanc Suisse. Switzerland were the first National Kennel Club to recognise the White Shepherd as a separate breed in 1991 and this is the reason why the name 'Swiss' has been attributed to the breed. In July 2011 at the World Dog Show in Paris it was announced that the Berger Blanc Suisse were given full breed recognition by the FCI.
Pedigree lines of the Berger Blanc Suisse appear to have kept true to the type of GSD bred many years ago. The breed are well known for having a softer and more compliant temperament making them ideal as a family/companion dog. (see WSSD breed standard page)
February 2009
We decided to purchase our first WSS long coated girl puppy Asha, pedigree name 'Ideal Impulse de Conquistadores del Azahar' from the show winning kennel 'Conquistadores del Azahar' in Spain. We would like to thank Mathilda for entrusting Asha into our hands and long may her own kennel's success continue!
Asha's sire is 'Multi Champion Ice Cool of Haely's Future' owned by Trebons Berger Blanc kennel. He has a long record of successess in the show ring in various countries and has produced some beautiful show winning offspring with great character. Asha's dam is a sweet, friendly female 'Gib CH Horsebo Rennaessance' who also had a great career with many CAC's / CACIB's to her credit before taking on her motherly duties and who has also won her title 'Champion of Gibraltar' in 2008.
October 2009
A new male came to live with us when I flew via Air Berlin from Alicante, Spain across to Berlin, Germany to collect him, his name is 'Justice Sereno of Buscin's Love'. His sire is 'Multi Ch. Dragon La Blankpapilio' and his dam is 'DtCh. Ivaine-Tabea of Beautiful White'. This time we would like to thank Claudia Ehringshausen (Buscin's Love Kennel also been known as Beautiful White) for allowing us to have this sweet, handsome boy and for agreeing to give him a name of our choice ('Justice Sereno') his chosen pet name plus our Affix.
December 2009
After re visiting Mathilda (Conquistadores Kennel) on behalf of a friend we ended up purchasing another male called 'Chai de Conquistadores del Azahar'. Chai's sire is GrandCh Ares Das Dunas Brancas (Brazil) and his dam is Spanish Ch. Vivid Daydream Belle's Beach Babe. His Grandfather on his father's side was the renowned, world's all time top winning WSS -GrandCh Alhambra's Fox Mulder. Thank you yet again Mathilda - what a beautiful and friendly litter!
April 2010
We bring a fourth member to our growing family, this time another girl pup called 'Cova la Gebrada'. Cova's father is a handsome and obedience trained boy called Horsebo Cau and her mother is Spanish Ch Branca of Trebons Berger Blanc. On this occasion we travelled to Northern Spain to collect our new little girl after meeting her two weeks previously at 6 weeks of age. Thank you Ramon & Victoria of 'La Gebrada' for allowing us to have this beautiful girl.
Our wonderful Asha, Justice, Chai & Cova are the foundation of 'SERENO SPIRIT'... <3 <3 <3 <3
